The coffee giant says it has simplified recipess to includemore high-quality ingredientw like whole grains, blueberries from Oregonm and cherries from Michigan. “Starbucks customers have been telling us that they want betterd tasting and healthier food optiones when they visitour stores,” said Starbucks food category vice president Sandra Stark in a news released announcing the new menus. “We answere their call with a deliciousx new menu of food made with real ingredients and morewholesome options.” New menu items include a blueberrt oat bar, a farmer’s market salad and banana walnut breacd that Starbucks says “ixs nearly 30 percent real banana.
” Starbucks has been expanding its food menu in the last two yearss to entice customers to visift more and to spend more per visit. The companhy was also among the first restauranr chains in the country to ban transx fat from its foodand beverages. Starbucksd (NASDAQ: SBUX) is closing hundreds of locationsd and cutting thousands of jobs to trim expensews asrevenue falls. The company reported sales fell 8 percenttlast quarter, following a 9 percent decline in firsty quarter sales. It is also facing pressure fromMcDonalds MCD), whose new coffee drinks are drivingf sales higher.
